When is the best time to travel?

It really depends on your destination, activities and season of travel. In much of Northern and Central India, the favored time to visit is from October – March, when the weather is most mild. In Southern and Eastern India, it is contingent on the monsoon season. Our destination specialists will recommend certain travel times after learning more about your preferences.

Do I need a Visa to visit India?

Yes, all non-citizen Indians visiting India needs a valid tourist Visa to enter India.

Why should I visit India?

Grand Indian Tours packages include a complete detail of every finer aspects of your journey, right from accommodation, food to transport. There will be other services provided as well. They are car rentals, sightseeing, and other activities.

My local travel agent is giving the same package at much lower rate. You seem too expensive.

Quality is of foremost concern for us. We tie up with only the best hotels and vendors. As a result, our prices can be a bit higher than market sometimes. We ensure the extra spend is worth it.

What is your booking procedure?

Once we receive your confirmation mail, we will block the rooms.

We will need full payment 30 days before your travel date.

You can make the payment via CREDIT CARD or DEBIT CARD both by Visa & Master Card. You can also do ONLINE BANK TRANSFER or CHEQUE DROP at our bank account.

Once we receive the payment, we will send you the RECEIPT acknowledging the amount received and confirming the service.

We will send you all the travel documents. Please carry their printouts.

We will SMS you the driver details 24 hr before your travel.

Do I need an Insurance?

We strongly recommend all travelers to India take adequate travel Insurance covering trip cancellation, interruption, medical & baggage insurance prior to travel

What documents do I need to carry during travel?

Checkin at hotels throughout India require ID proof like Passport, Driving Licence, PAN card. However for travel to North East, PAN card is NOT accepted as an identity proof - you need to carry proof having address on it. Please check with your Travel Consultant in case of any questions.

How do I get confirmation that the driver will pick us up?

We'll provide you with driver mobile number 1 day before travel. You can call him before the pickup. Usually, the driver itself will call and confirm the pickup time and location. He'll also carry a placard at the pickup point (airport / railway station / bus stop). You can also contact your Local Representative (given in vouchers) in case of any doubt.

If we make any changes or cancel your tour?

The travel arrangements are made advance and it is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your travel arrangements. Occasionally, we may have to make changes and we reserve the right to do so at any time. If there are any changes, we will advise you of them at the earliest possible date. We also reserve the right under any circumstances to cancel your travel arrangements by assigning reasons to you. If we are unable to provide the booked travel arrangements due to reasons beyond our control (e.g. bad weather): We shall first try to offer alternative dates for the tour if the tour hasn't already commenced. In all circumstances, however, our liability shall be limited to refunding to you the price we charged as tour fees.

Any amendments received by you

After confirmation of services, if you wish to change your travel arrangements in any way (e.g. your chosen arrival date or accommodation), we will do our utmost to make these changes but it may not always be possible. Any request for changes must be in writing from the person who made the booking. All cost incurred due to amendment will be borne by you.

What Immunizations do I need to take before visiting India ?

We advise you to consult your doctor. However, we recommend vaccination for Hepatitis A/B & Tetanus before visiting India. Though Malaria is virtually non-existent in all tourist areas in India, you may carry mosquito repellant to prevent mosquito bites. An inoculation against Yellow fever is required if you have visited any infected areas within 5 days prior to your arrival in India.

Can we do other travel arrangements before or after our tour?

To help you make the most of your tour we offer a range of pre and post tour add-on options as well as extensions and stopovers. The options are endless, just ask your consultant at time of booking.

Is there Wi-Fi (wireless Internet) in my hotel room?

In some of our hotels there is Wi-Fi available in the rooms or common areas - the price will vary depending on property. We also travel to some regions where Wi-Fi may not be available e.g. on Safari.

Can you help me book Flight / Train / Bus ticket?

We book entire package. If your travel involves flight / train / bus travel, we'll take care of it. However, if you prefer to book them on your own, you are welcome to do it. Please note that we do not book standalone flights / train / bus tickets (if it if not part of the package).

Can I make part payment?

Yes, you can book your package by making advance payment as per the booking policy. However, you need to make the full payment 30 days before the date of travel. For travel during peak season, you need to pay 50% the total bill at the time of confirmation.

What does "Cab at disposal" means?

It means that cab is with you throughout the trip. However, any usage outside the pre-approved distance and time limit will attract additional charges.

I am not interested in a full package. All I want is hotels and transportation? Can I book just these?

Yes, you can take just a part of a particular tour. Please email us your exact requirements and our customer service representative will send you a breakup of what you have asked for along with the cost. You can book hotel(s) and car(s) through the respective sections directly as well.

Will your staff accompany us during the trip?

Unfortunately no. All of our packages are for individual travel where none of our staff accompany the guests except if the group size exceeds 15 pax and above. However, at some places, our representative will meet you before the trip and explain you your program.

I am reaching hotel early. Will I be able to check-in early?

Early check-in and late check-out may be available subject to availability at the hotel. To be sure, you can make a prior reservation for it. Most hotels allow it at a nominal charge. Alternatively, hotels usually accommodate your bags in a secure location until your room is ready.

Does the driver takes us wherever we wish to go or is there a planned itinerary?

Our itinerary is only a recommendation, you are free to see anything you want, free to spend as much time as you want at each location (as long as not restricted by govt rules). However, there is a distance and time limit. You can go anywhere within the city, going outside the city may be chargeable. Also, using the cab in night (after 9 pm or before 6 am) may be chargeable unless mentioned otherwise. Please contact your Local Representative (given in vouchers) in case of any doubt.

What happens in case of strike (bandh)?

Strikes (bandhs) happen on few occasions in India throughout the year and are usually unannounced and last minute. We try our best to accommodate guest needs and change the travel plans accordingly. However, in some cases travel is not possible leading to cancellation. We try to get full refund from hotels and cab vendors and pass the entire amount to the guest, but in some cases that is not possible. In such cases, guests have to bear the cancellation charges.

In case of any emergency who shall I contact or call?

Grand Indian Tours remains easy to get to, to all its customers and guests. At any time during day or night, in case of any emergency, please do call our efficient Customer Service Team which is easily reached from all networks.

What will be the precautions taken for the period of my hotel stay?

Make sure you keep your suitcases and bags locked. Ensure that your room door is locked before leaving. On no account leave your valuables around the room. In most of the hotels (either at nominal charge or free of cost) have proper lockers for you to store up all your belongings and valuables. In smaller hotels depositing valuables or belongings may not be that reliable. In that case, belongings and valuables should be carried along. Leave your room key at the reception before you are out on sightseeing. Before checking out from the hotel, do check all your rooms properly to make sure that your valuables and possessions have been well packed. After all these, do leave the key at reception. Do not forget to clear all your bills for the extra services you have availed.

Before leaving for the destination what are the precautions should I take?

Re-confirm the time and date of your travel before 1-2 days of your departure, the airport terminal and the flight number. Make sure you reach the airport on time keeping the traffic conditions in mind. It should be at least 3.5 hours prior to the time of flight departure. This should be done only for the security reasons. Do not forget to take all the necessary precautions before leaving your house. Check whether the taps are closed properly or not. You need to check whether you have shut down the doors and windows and disconnected all the electrical appliances or not.

What will be the essential things that should be packed for my vacation?

Carry all these following documents - Air Tickets, Passport with all the visas and its clearances, Rail Tickets, Tour Program list and All the Service Vouchers. Carry a cap and a stylish pair of sunglasses to protect you from the sun. Do not forget to use sunscreen lotion especially during the summers. As light showers come and go a windcheater or light folding-umbrella should be carried. Whenever you go for any sightseeing, carry a small handy bag equipped with all necessary equipments like camera, umbrella, sweater, windcheater, tennis shoes, passport, water bottle, money, medicines and other accessories as required,. Do not carry unnecessary valuables. Only carry the ones that are essential. Do not forget to carry all the prescription medicines along with you. An extra pair of medicine lenses/glasses is a must in order to be careful of breakages or losses.

I have found that most of your holiday packages have no mention of air fare. In that case will you arrange the air ticket for my holiday package? Please let me know about the calculation of the total amount also? As you know that the airfare conditions differ from one destination to another and might even change now and then. This is the reason we just verify the real rate while booking your holiday package and then we add that particular price to your original package rate. What is the Electrical Voltage in India?

The voltage in India is 220-240 volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second. You will require a voltage converter and plug adapter if you wish to use an electronic appliance with 110 volts currency. People coming from countries with 230 volts currency (such as Australia, Europe & the UK) only require a plug adapter for their appliances.

Can I use my cell phone in India?

Yes, your home cell phone will work in India wherever their is a service network. India is widely covered with the cell phone network and you will be amazed with the coverage even to the remotest of the area. However, international roaming charges may be very high and you may check with your home operator about the roaming charges while you are traveling in India. We recommend buying a local Indian SIM card which can be procured at a nominal cost and can be used throughout India while you are traveling. You may use local SIM card in your own cell phone device. All Indian service providers has their network on 900/1800 MHz frequency.

Can I drink tap water in India?

A strict no while you are traveling to India. We only recommend bottled mineral water to quench your thirst. We provide bottled water in our cars/coaches you travel in, however, bottled water is widely available throughout India.
